Sylvester Stallone plays Robert Rath in Assassins, a professional hitman who wants to retire but finds himself in a deadly rivalry with a younger assassin played by Antonio Banderas. Richard Donner directed this 1995 action thriller, written by the Wachowskis before they became famous for The Matrix. Stallone's Rath is tired and methodical, a killer who has been doing this too long and knows it, while Banderas plays his competitor as flamboyant and reckless. Julianne Moore plays a surveillance expert caught between them. The film flopped at the box office and got poor reviews, but it has developed a small following for its cat-and-mouse tension and the contrast between its two leads.
The watch on Rath's wrist has been catalogued by the community as a Pulsar quartz with reference Y563-6099, a budget Japanese piece (Pulsar is the Seiko Holdings subsidiary that has historically lived below Seiko's main line). The Y563 caliber is one of Pulsar's quartz movements; the 6099 case suffix puts it in the brand's late-80s/early-90s catalog. No premier horology publication has formally identified the prop, so this sighting sits at Likely rather than Confirmed. The choice fits the character: Rath is a man trying to disappear, and a generic-looking Japanese quartz on his wrist does not draw attention. A Rolex would.
