Steven Seagal wears an unidentified watch

In a cemetery scene in Pistol Whipped, Steven Seagal's character carries a young girl in his arms, and the wrist holding her legs wears a watch: a gold-toned case on a dark strap, turned so the dial faces in against the skin. The dial never comes around, and without it there is no maker's name to read and no model line to match. The case is round and gold, the strap plain and dark, with a crown showing at the side. That is all the frame shows.

The film went straight to video in 2008, one of the cheap thrillers Steven Seagal made with director Roel Reiné in those years. Seagal plays Matt Conlin, an elite cop thrown off the force and sinking into gambling debt and drink. A shadowy figure called the Old Man, played by Lance Henriksen, buys up every marker Conlin owes and then sets his terms: total loyalty, and a list of the city's worst criminals to be killed one at a time. The clean slate is a contract, and Conlin spends the picture working out which of the men around him he was sent to kill.

Nothing outside the frame helps: no source names the watch, and a direct-to-video Seagal picture of this vintage is exactly the kind shot fast and watched by almost no one closely enough to settle it. The girl in his arms is his daughter Becky, who now lives with the former colleague who married his ex-wife, the same man the Old Man eventually orders Conlin to kill.
