Stacy Keach wears a Seiko Octagonal Digital

Richard Franklin, an Australian director devoted to Hitchcock, made a suspense film set almost entirely in a truck cab. Everett De Roche wrote it: Pat Quid (Stacy Keach), an American driver hauling refrigerated meat across the outback with his dingo, Boswell, starts to notice that a green van keeps turning up wherever women go missing. Jamie Lee Curtis appears as a hitchhiker called Hitch. Franklin treats the cab as a fixed vantage point from which Quid watches the highway go wrong.

Quid's watch is hard to pin down. The gold lettering on the dial appears to read Seiko, set in an octagonal gold-toned case with a black digital face, but Casio and Delphi made near-identical octagonal LCD watches at the time, so even the brand is a fair guess rather than a certainty. What is clear is the type: a cheap early-1980s quartz LCD digital of the kind sold by the million.
