Sigourney Weaver wears a Casio Dual F100 Watch (custom prop)

Every member of the Nostromo crew wears the same watch in Ridley Scott's Alien. The watch is a custom prop: the production took the Casio F-100, the brand's first plastic-cased digital watch, launched in 1977, and joined two of them top-to-tail on a single strap over a red plastic plate, building a pair of cheap quartz watches into one chunky unit meant to read as standard-issue company equipment. It looked just futuristic enough to pass as 22nd-century hardware without drawing attention to itself.

Sigourney Weaver wears hers as Ellen Ripley, the warrant officer who turns out to be the only competent person on the ship. The doubled F-100 sits on her wrist through every scene, from the early mess hall arguments about bonus pay to the final confrontation with the xenomorph in the escape shuttle. It's a crew watch, not a character watch, and that anonymity is the point. Weyland-Yutani doesn't care about its workers enough to issue them anything special.

The Casio F100 was discontinued not long after the film's release, and its connection to Alien turned it into one of the more collectible digital watches from the era. Original unmodified examples are hard to find. The film versions, with their custom bezels and mounting hardware, are even rarer. Casio's Vintage A100 line later revived the F-100's look, an acknowledgment of a connection the company never planned when it built a cheap digital watch in 1977. The Alien games went further: Alien: Isolation gave the prop an in-universe name, the Samani E-125.
