Sharon Stone wears a Rolex Submariner

A thousand feet underwater in the middle of the Pacific, a team of scientists discovers a spacecraft that has been resting on the ocean floor for three hundred years. Barry Levinson directed Sphere from Michael Crichton's novel, with Dustin Hoffman, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sharon Stone as the experts sent down to investigate. Stone plays Dr. Beth Halperin, the team's biochemist, whose psychiatric history the script keeps in play as the events around them turn stranger and harder to trust.

Two watch sites have logged the watch on Stone's wrist as a steel Rolex dive model, though they disagree on which one. Montres de Luxe, the site cited here, calls it a Submariner Date. The prop-watch retailer Mostra Store calls it a Sea-Dweller. The two are close relatives: Rolex launched the Submariner in 1953 as a diver rated to 100 meters, and the Sea-Dweller followed in 1967 with a helium escape valve for saturation divers working much deeper. Either way it is a steel Oyster Professional dive watch, suited to the deep-sea setting. Neither identification cites a source and the watch is not clearly visible in the available stills, so the exact model stays an educated guess.
