Charles Finch directed Where Sleeping Dogs Lie (1991), a low-budget neo-noir set in a spooky Hollywood mansion, where a murder-mystery writer played by Dylan McDermott rents a room and starts to suspect the house holds real bodies. Sharon Stone, a year before the role that made her a star, plays Serena Black, the real estate agent who arranged the rental. Tom Sizemore co-stars. It is minor work, but Stone is already commanding enough to hold the eye.
On Serena's wrist is a gold dress watch on a gold Jubilee-style bracelet, identified as a yellow-gold Rolex Datejust. Rolex introduced the Datejust in 1945, and it became a familiar choice in sales-driven professions, conservative and recognizable at once. The identification comes from a single watch-spotting site rather than a documented source, and the brand cannot be read from the available stills, so the Rolex attribution stays unconfirmed.
