Vincent, François, Paul and the Others (1974) is Claude Sautet's ensemble drama about a circle of middle-aged friends whose lives are quietly coming apart. Yves Montand's Vincent is an industrialist whose marriage has ended and whose business is close to collapse; Michel Piccoli's François is a doctor who long ago traded his ideals for money; Serge Reggiani's Paul is a writer stalled on the book he cannot finish. Gérard Depardieu plays Jean, a young boxer on the edge of the group.
The watch is a Rolex Air-King, and very probably Serge Reggiani's own. The French watch site that names it points out that he wears the same Air-King in two other films of these years, which suggests it came from his own drawer rather than the wardrobe department. Rolex first used the Air-King name in the 1940s, when it honored RAF pilots, and the watch spent decades as the plainest, most affordable model in the Oyster line: no date, no rotating bezel, just the time.
