Samuel L. Jackson wears a TAG Heuer Monaco

In xXx (2002), Rob Cohen's action movie about an extreme-sports athlete recruited into espionage, Samuel L. Jackson plays the man who does the recruiting. Agent Augustus Gibbons is an NSA handler with a deeply scarred face who keeps reappearing to steer Xander Cage through the mission. In one scene Gibbons sits alone in the red velvet of an empty opera house, raises a finger to his lips, and a dark, square-cased watch sits on his wrist.

The square case is the part that reads clearly. Among TAG Heuer's watches, that shape points to the Monaco, the chronograph Steve McQueen wore in Le Mans, and the watch on screen is consistent with one. But the case is all that comes through. The crown position and racing subdials that would actually pin it to a Monaco never resolve, so it stays a square TAG Heuer that looks like a Monaco without confirming one.
