John Madden remade the 2007 Israeli film HaChov as a dual-timeline thriller about three Mossad agents and a lie that lasted thirty years. In the 1960s timeline, Worthington, Jessica Chastain, and Marton Csokas play the young operatives sent to East Berlin to capture the "Surgeon of Birkenau," a Nazi war criminal hiding as a gynecologist. In the present-day timeline, Helen Mirren, Ciaran Hinds, and Tom Wilkinson play the same characters decades later, when the truth about their supposedly heroic mission threatens to surface. Peter Straughan wrote the screenplay, and Madden — who won the Best Picture Oscar for Shakespeare in Love — stages the Berlin sections with a Cold War claustrophobia that makes the rest of the film feel too spacious by comparison.

Worthington's David Peretz is the muscle of the trio, the agent whose physicality compensates for what the others lack in nerve. A watch is visible on his wrist in the 1960s sequences, but the specific model has not been identified. For a Mossad operative working undercover in East Berlin during the Cold War, whatever he is wearing would need to be unremarkable — nothing that draws a second look at a checkpoint. The entire point of the mission is to be invisible until the moment they grab the doctor, and David's wristwatch is part of that invisibility.
