During production of The Fall Guy in Sydney, stunt driver Logan Holladay put a car through eight and a half cannon rolls, a Guinness World Record. David Leitch, who directed, has called the film a love letter to stunts, and its hero is a man who takes that kind of punishment for a living: Ryan Gosling plays Colt Seavers, a Hollywood stuntman who breaks his back in a failed stunt, leaves the business, and is pulled back eighteen months later to find the missing star of a film his ex-girlfriend Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt) is directing for the first time. Drew Pearce wrote the screenplay, loosely based on the 1980s television series, and Universal released it in May 2024.
The watch on Colt's wrist through all of it is the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Glassbox 39mm, reference CBS2210.FC6534: black dial, grey counters, a date window at 12 o'clock instead of the usual 6, and the box-domed sapphire crystal that gives the Glassbox generation its name, worn on black calfskin with a steel clasp. The dial layout revives the reverse panda look of the 1960s Heuer Carrera reference 2447 NS. TAG Heuer signed Gosling as a brand ambassador in October 2021, and on The Fall Guy the partnership went well past wardrobe: the brand was an official partner on the film and shot a companion short, The Chase for Carrera, with the filmmakers to mark sixty years of the Carrera collection.
In one shot, Colt hangs upside down from a steel boom above a moving roadway, ripped jeans, red racing jacket, both hands locked on the pole, and the chronograph sits plainly on his left wrist, black dial and grey counters legible mid-stunt.
