A London banker inherits a vineyard in Provence and has to decide whether the grapes or the spreadsheets matter more. Russell Crowe plays Max Skinner in Ridley Scott's A Good Year (2006), which is the lightest film either of them has made — a vacation with better cinematography and a love interest. Crowe plays it with less intensity than usual, which is probably the point. Max is supposed to be loosening up.
His watch hasn't been identified, which is a loss given how well it could define the character's arc. Max starts as the kind of man who wears a serious City watch — something Swiss and chronograph-heavy — and by the end should be in something simpler or nothing at all. Whatever he is wearing in the first act, by the third act, it should feel wrong on his wrist.
