Werner Herzog playing the villain is the most memorable thing about Jack Reacher (2012), but Christopher McQuarrie wrote and directed a solid thriller around him. Tom Cruise is the drifter-investigator of the title, and Rosamund Pike plays Helen Rodin, a defense attorney whose father (Richard Jenkins) is the district attorney on the same case. Helen asks Reacher to investigate after her client, a former Army sniper accused of a mass shooting, insists on his involvement. David Oyelowo and Robert Duvall round out the cast.
The TAG Heuer Carrera on Pike's wrist is a reasonable choice for a defense attorney. Jack Heuer created the Carrera in 1963, naming it after the Carrera Panamericana road race across Mexico. It is a racing chronograph at heart, but the cleaner versions work as professional watches, signalling competence and taste without vanity. No trusted publication has identified the specific reference, and the watch is not shown clearly enough to settle it, so the identification stays at the Carrera family level.
