The Sea Wolves restages a real operation. In 1943, a group of middle-aged British civilians from the Calcutta Light Horse, a peacetime cavalry regiment, took an old barge into the neutral Portuguese harbor of Goa to sink a German freighter that was radioing U-boat targets to the enemy. Andrew V. McLaglen filmed it in 1980 with Gregory Peck, David Niven, and Roger Moore. Moore plays Captain Gavin Stewart, the intelligence officer who sets the raid in motion.

The watch on Stewart's wrist is the problem. A French watch-in-film listing calls it a Seiko Tuna 600m, but that cannot be right: Seiko did not build the Tuna until 1975, more than thirty years after the film is set, and the listing gives no source or still to back it up. No reliable source identifies what Roger Moore actually wears here, and the Tuna, big and shrouded, would be hard to miss if he did. The watch is best left unidentified.
