The 7549-7009 is the watch collectors call the "Golden Tuna," and it is the ugliest thing Bond has ever worn. The case is a massive black titanium shroud with gold-tone accents, designed for professional saturation diving at 600 meters. It looks like a hockey puck strapped to a wrist. John Glen directed For Your Eyes Only as a deliberate retreat from Moonraker's space-age excess, grounding the film in Cold War espionage and underwater salvage, and the Golden Tuna appears during the dive sequence to the wreck of the St. Georges, worn on the outside of Bond's diving suit, which is exactly how professional divers use it.

Seiko built the original Tuna (the 6159-7010) in 1975 for commercial divers working in helium-saturated environments, where a conventional dive watch case would pop its crystal from internal gas pressure. The shrouded case solved the problem, and the design became a cult favorite among actual working divers who didn't care how it looked. The 7549-7009 quartz variant updated the concept with a battery-powered movement that eliminated the need for an automatic rotor, making the watch thinner inside its armor.

For Your Eyes Only also features a Seiko H357-5040 Duo Display as the gadget watch, an analog-digital model modified to receive text messages on its digital display. The film's final scene has the message "COME IN 007" scrolling across the watch face, which Margaret Thatcher's character reads aloud. Moore wore both watches throughout the production: the Golden Tuna for underwater authenticity, the H357 for spy-gadget theater. It is the most functionally honest watch pairing in the entire Bond franchise, one watch that actually works at depth, and one that pretends to be a pager.
