Roger Moore wears a Seiko 0674-5009

Bond gets a printer on his wrist. The Seiko 0674-5009 is a quartz LCD watch that Q Branch modified to receive and print miniature ticker-tape messages, a function the production team actually built into the prop. Lewis Gilbert directed The Spy Who Loved Me, and the Seiko's message-printing scene became one of the most memorable gadget moments of the Moore era. The film opens with Bond receiving a mission briefing printed out on a tiny strip of paper from his watch while in bed with a woman in a ski lodge. It is ridiculous, and it is exactly what 1977 audiences wanted from 007.

The 0674-5009 was Seiko's entry-level LCD model, a thin digital watch with a silver-tone case. Seiko had been aggressively pursuing product placement in Western markets throughout the 1970s, and landing the Bond franchise was the equivalent of winning a World Cup sponsorship. The deal would keep Bond in Seiko watches for the rest of Moore's tenure.
