Robin Williams wears a Cartier Calibre de Cartier

The Big Wedding is an ensemble comedy built on a single lie. Justin Zackham's 2013 film puts Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon, Amanda Seyfried and Topher Grace through a weekend in which long-divorced parents have to pretend they are still married, because their adopted son's devout birth mother is flying in for his wedding and would not approve of the truth. Robin Williams plays Father Monaghan, the priest hired to marry them, in one of the quiet supporting turns of his last years.

The watch the priest wears is a rose-gold Cartier Calibre de Cartier with a chocolate-brown dial. Cartier introduced the Calibre in 2010, built around the brand's first in-house automatic movement, a 42mm watch with a heavier, sportier presence than the dressy Tank or Santos. You can actually catch it on screen: in the lakeside ceremony, with his arms folded over his vestments, a round gold watch sits on Williams's wrist, the right color and shape for the one the watch sites name.

The brand is harder to pin down from the film itself. The Cartier identification comes from a French watch site and a watch-spotting aggregator, both calling it a rose-gold Calibre, neither backed by anything from Cartier or a major publication. The gold watch is really there on the priest's wrist; that it is this particular Cartier is reported, not proven.
