Roger Spottiswoode directed Air America (1990), set during the Vietnam War, with Robert Downey Jr. as Billy Covington, a young pilot recruited by the CIA's secret airline in Laos. The Breitling Navitimer is the most famous aviation chronograph ever made, its circular slide-rule bezel able to work out fuel burn, airspeed, and rate of climb, the kind of tool a cargo pilot flying through mountains would actually use.
Billy's watch has been identified as a Navitimer, the chronograph Breitling introduced in 1952 for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and kept in production for decades. The identification comes from a watch-forum discussion rather than a documented source, and the watch is hard to read in the available stills, so the model is not confirmed.
