Richard Gere wears a Rolex Datejust

The Benefactor (2015) was Andrew Renzi's first feature, a small independent drama. Richard Gere plays Franny, a rich philanthropist who attaches himself to Olivia (Dakota Fanning), the daughter of his late best friend, and her husband Luke (Theo James), and will not let go. The French watch site Montres-de-luxe, looking at what Gere wears, identified it as a Rolex Datejust in steel, an older one, worn on a leather strap rather than the usual steel bracelet.

The Datejust has been in the Rolex catalog since 1945, and the small magnifying lens over the date window, the cyclops, is the detail most people recognize. In a scene on a sailboat with Fanning, the watch sits on Gere's wrist under a pushed-up sweater sleeve, too small in the frame to make out.
