At the end of January 2025, Prime Video released You're Cordially Invited, a comedy built on a booking accident: two weddings scheduled into the same small inn on Palmetto Island, Georgia, for the same weekend. Nicholas Stoller, whose directing debut was Forgetting Sarah Marshall and who later made Neighbors, wrote and directed it. Reese Witherspoon plays Margot Buckley, a Los Angeles reality television executive and the older sister of one bride; Will Ferrell plays Jim Caldwell, an overattentive Atlanta widower whose daughter is marrying her DJ boyfriend. The father of one bride and the sister of the other go to war over the venue, and neither side gives an inch. Margot wears a Bulgari Rettangolo in yellow gold.
Bulgari came to watches late. Sotirios Voulgaris, a Greek silversmith born in Paramythia in 1857, opened a jewelry store at Via Sistina 85 in Rome in 1884, and the company that grew from it still writes its name BVLGARI, with the V of the classical Latin alphabet, in reference to ancient Rome. For most of its first century the house was a jeweler; it entered watchmaking in 1977 with the Bulgari Bulgari. Rettangolo is Italian for rectangle, and that is what the watch is: a rectangular case, worn here in yellow gold on a matching link bracelet.
Nobody has put a reference number on Margot's exact piece; the identification stops at the model and the metal. At the ceremony, under garlands of orange flowers, Witherspoon stands beside the bride in a navy dress, one hand planted on her hip, and the watch sits on that wrist beside a thin gold bangle, its rectangular gold case and gold links easy to read against the dark fabric.
