Brett Ratner directed After the Sunset (2004), a Caribbean heist comedy that plays like a vacation with a plot. Pierce Brosnan is Max Burdett, a jewel thief who says he has retired, and Woody Harrelson is the FBI agent who does not believe him. Salma Hayek plays Max's partner Lola, with Don Cheadle and Naomie Harris in support.

On Brosnan's wrist is a Panerai Luminor Marina, reference PAM00091: a 44mm cushion case in titanium on a stainless steel bracelet, with a dark anthracite-blue dial, luminous markers, a date at three and small seconds at nine. The crown-locking lever bridge on the left of the case is unmistakable. Panerai built the original Luminor for Italian Navy frogmen during the Second World War and only began selling to the public in 1993; by the time of this film the brand had become a Hollywood signature, helped along by Sylvester Stallone wearing one through the late 1990s. According to the watch publication Quill & Pad, the Panerai gets generous screen time in After the Sunset and is mentioned in the dialogue, and Brosnan, a committed Panerai wearer, wore the same reference again a decade later in A Long Way Down.
