Pierce Brosnan wears a Heuer 1000 Series

In a rented flat near an American air base in England, a quiet man receives parts through dead drops and assembles a nuclear bomb, piece by piece. He is Valeri Petrofsky, a KGB agent living under the name James Edward Ross, played by Pierce Brosnan a few years before Bond. The Fourth Protocol (1987) sets Michael Caine's MI5 officer, John Preston, against him; Frederick Forsyth wrote both the novel and the screenplay, and John Mackenzie directed. Forsyth knew tradecraft, and the film spends its patience on procedure.

On Petrofsky's wrist is a Heuer 1000 Professional, a black-PVD quartz diver, reference 980.026L, 38mm steel, 200 meters of water resistance. Heuer built the 1000 as an affordable dive line at the end of the 1970s. BAMF Style notes that the dial reads HEUER in the leaner pre-merger logo rather than the taller TAG Heuer that came after the 1985 takeover, which places the watch in the brand's last Heuer-only years.
