Peter Lawford's career after the Rat Pack era consisted largely of films like this one. Richard Donner directed Salt and Pepper (1968) years before Superman and Lethal Weapon made him an A-list action director. The film is a comedy about two Soho nightclub owners, played by Lawford and Sammy Davis Jr., who stumble into an espionage plot after a murdered agent turns up in their club. It is lightweight and knows it, coasting on the chemistry between its two leads.
The available image is a backdrop, so Lawford's watch is not visible. It has been described as a gold dress watch, which fits Christopher Pepper — a man who dresses well and fumbles everything else. Lawford brought Rat Pack style to every role he played in the sixties whether the script deserved it or not.
