Pedro Pascal wears a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso

Celine Song wrote and directed Materialists (2025), her follow-up to Past Lives. The title is not subtle. Dakota Johnson plays Lucy, a New York matchmaker torn between Chris Evans as the perfect new prospect and Pedro Pascal as Harry Castillo, her imperfect ex. Pascal wears two different Jaeger-LeCoultre watches across the film; the one seen here is the Reverso Tribute Chronograph.

The Reverso ref. Q389257J has the Calibre 860 movement inside a case that swivels to reveal a second dial on the back. JLC invented the Reverso in 1931 for polo players who needed to flip the watch face-down to protect the crystal during matches. The chronograph version adds a stopwatch complication to that already complex design, priced around $20,000. On a character named Harry Castillo in a film called Materialists, a $20,000 JLC that does a mechanical flip trick is exactly right.

The Reverso is the kind of watch people buy when they want other watch people to notice. Harry Castillo is that type.
