The production still that says the most about Brian O'Conner has him sweating in the Los Angeles sun with a pistol in a two-handed grip, and at the bottom of the frame, filling the wrist behind the gun, sits a black watch with a dial of glowing dots. Paul Walker plays the undercover LAPD officer of The Fast and the Furious (2001), the cop who drives a lime green Mitsubishi Eclipse into Dominic Toretto's street racing world and stops wanting out. A second photograph from the set has Walker and Vin Diesel sprawled against a truck between takes, the same black watch on the same wrist.

The watch is a Luminox Original Navy SEAL, reference 3001, and it is exactly what a working cop in 2001 would strap on. Luminox developed the model in partnership with the U.S. Navy SEALs in 1992: a lightweight polymer-cased dive watch, water resistant to 200 meters, with tritium gas tubes giving its hands and hour markers a constant glow that never needs a button or a charge of light. The watch press that tracked the franchise agrees on the identification, and the close frame backs it up, the big luminous dots at the hours and the pale sword hands plainly visible even where no logo resolves.
