Home / Ghostbusters: Afterlife / Paul Rudd
- Actor
- Paul Rudd
- Character
- Mr. Grooberson
- Status
- Confirmed
Gary Grooberson teaches summer school in Summerville, Oklahoma, mostly by screening old horror movies for the class, and on the side he chases the small earthquakes rattling a town that sits on no fault line. His watch is hard to catch on screen; there is no clean close-up, just a black resin case and a rugged textile strap. The giveaway is the patch on that strap, printed with latitude and longitude lines, the insignia of the Timex Expedition Gallatin.
Paul Rudd wears it throughout Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021), Jason Reitman's continuation of his father Ivan's films. The Gallatin is a 45mm Expedition built to look ready for a mountain trail, with a solar-powered movement and a dive-style bezel that backs only 50 meters of water resistance. It runs about fifty dollars.
The film follows the family of Egon Spengler, the late Ghostbuster, after his daughter Callie (Carrie Coon) inherits his rundown Oklahoma farmhouse; her children Phoebe (McKenna Grace) and Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) uncover what their grandfather had been tracking out there. Grooberson, who meets Callie in a school-doorway mix-up, helps Phoebe read the seismic activity that proves to be something far stranger than geology.
