John Beckwith and Jeremy Grey crash strangers' weddings to meet women, and in the opening stretch of Wedding Crashers they are very good at it. Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn play them in David Dobkin's 2005 comedy, two best friends faking their way through pews they have no business sitting in, clapping and tearing up on cue. Wilson's John eventually falls for Claire Cleary, played by Rachel McAdams, the daughter of a Treasury Secretary played by Christopher Walken, and follows her home to the family's estate.

There is a watch on John's wrist through all of it, though in the wedding-pew shots it stays mostly tucked under a blue shirt cuff, showing only a slice of steel case and bracelet. Wilson is a Rolex man away from the camera, and the watch he is most often seen in, and reported to wear across his films, is a GMT-Master II in the blue and red Pepsi configuration. The GMT-Master was built in the 1950s for Pan Am pilots who needed to track two time zones at once, with a fourth hand sweeping a twenty-four-hour bezel so a single glance gives you home and away. The Pepsi bezel, blue for the night hours and red for the day, is the original colorway and the one collectors chase hardest.
