Orlando Bloom wears a TAG Heuer Monaco

Gran Turismo is the true story of a marketing idea. Nissan ran a program called GT Academy that took the fastest players of the Gran Turismo video game and trained them into real racing drivers, and Neill Blomkamp's 2023 film follows the program's most famous graduate, Jann Mardenborough, a young retail worker and Gran Turismo obsessive played by Archie Madekwe; the real Mardenborough did the driving himself, serving as Madekwe's stunt double. Orlando Bloom plays Danny Moore, the Nissan marketing executive who pitches the academy, a character based on the real executive Darren Cox, and David Harbour plays Jack Salter, the former racer who trains the recruits. Jason Hall and Zach Baylin wrote the screenplay; the film premiered at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in July 2023 and took 122 million dollars on a 60 million dollar budget.

Moore's watch is a TAG Heuer Monaco, the blue dial automatic on a steel bracelet, reference CBL2111.BA0644. The line was immortalised on the wrist of Steve McQueen in Le Mans in 1971, and the placement here extends the same motorsport association. In the pit lane the watch is easy to read: the square blue dial sits on Bloom's left wrist beside a thin gold chain as he applauds, headset on, sponsor patches up his shirt.
