Olivia Thirlby wears an Audemars Piguet Millenary

Kim Johnson enters Damascus Cover (2017) as an American photojournalist working the old city, and one reviewer remembered her introduction exactly: "a flirtatious USA Today photographer with a broken watch." Ari Ben-Sion, the Mossad agent passing through Damascus as a German businessman, begins a relationship with her. Olivia Thirlby, Juno's best friend in 2007 and Judge Anderson in Dredd, plays Kim in a striped blouse against the lantern light of the markets, and the French site Montres-de-Luxe identified the watch she wears as an Audemars Piguet Millenary in white gold. Whether the broken watch of her first scene and the Audemars Piguet are the same prop, nobody has documented.

The Millenary is Audemars Piguet's other shape, an oval case with an off-center dial, deliberately asymmetric where the Royal Oak is all geometry. Damascus Cover doubled up on the brand, putting a rose gold Royal Oak on Jonathan Rhys Meyers and the Millenary on Thirlby, and Montres-de-Luxe flagged the same problem with both watches: the story takes place in 1989, and these models did not exist yet. The Millenary line only appeared in 1995. No other publication ever covered either watch, and the stills keep Kim's wrists out of frame, so the identification rests on the French report.

Kim is not what her cover story says. Late in the film she is revealed as a spy and assassin working under Sarraj, the Syrian intelligence chief, and at the final rendezvous The Angel, the deep asset the whole operation was built around, already knows where her loyalty lies. She denies betraying the operation, and he shoots her anyway.
