Sailor Ripley's snakeskin jacket represents a symbol of his individuality and his belief in personal freedom. Cage says it in the film and means it. David Lynch directed Wild at Heart (1990) as a Wizard of Oz fever dream filtered through violence, sex, and rockabilly, and it won the Palme d'Or at Cannes that year. Cage and Laura Dern play lovers on the run from her mother (Diane Ladd), who has hired killers to stop them. Willem Dafoe shows up as Bobby Peru, one of Lynch's most genuinely disturbing creations.
A watch is visible on Cage's wrist in the available image, a round piece with what appears to be a light-colored dial, though the black-and-white photography makes identification impossible. Sailor would wear something cheap or stolen or both. He is not a man who shops for accessories. He is a man who has accessories happen to him.
