Naomi Watts wears a Rolex Lady-Datejust

Four people are crowded into a window booth at a diner, and Naomi Watts is laughing so hard she has lifted both hands toward her face. This is While We're Young, Noah Baumbach's 2015 comedy about a married couple in middle age who fall in with a younger couple. For a second, as Watts laughs, the camera catches her wrist, where a steel Rolex sits on a metal bracelet with a pale dial.

The watch publication Montres-de-luxe identified it as a Rolex Datejust in steel on an Oyster bracelet. It is the women's version of the watch Rolex introduced in 1945, the first wristwatch to display the date in a small window on the dial. Watts plays Cornelia, a documentary producer married to Josh, the stalled filmmaker played by Ben Stiller. Her father, played by Charles Grodin, is a famous documentarian, and the younger couple who upend their lives are played by Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried.

The watch is never mentioned in the dialogue and never given a close-up. It is visible only because of how Cornelia is sitting, both hands raised, mid-laugh, in a booth crowded with people and plates.
