Milo Ventimiglia plays Denny Swift, a racing driver, in The Art of Racing in the Rain, Simon Curtis's 2019 film of Garth Stein's novel, narrated by Denny's dog Enzo in the voice of Kevin Costner. The watch on Denny's wrist is an Omega Speedmaster, and there is a good chance it is the actor's own. Ventimiglia collects watches, and Fratello has written up his Speedmaster Reduced, the 39mm automatic version of the Moonwatch, which he wears on a NATO strap in real life.

On screen the watch follows the same pattern, a NATO strap early and a steel bracelet later. In the birthday scene near the end you can see it on the bracelet, a steel chronograph turned just far enough from the lens that the sub-dials never quite resolve. The Reduced keeps the Speedmaster's black tachymeter bezel, which is the part that reads as a Speedmaster even when the dial will not.

What the film never does is give the watch a clean close-up, and no one from Omega or the production has confirmed the exact reference. The identification comes from watch spotters. What holds up is the brand and the broad model, an Omega Speedmaster Reduced, worn by a man who happens to own one.
