Michael Nouri wears a Rolex Submariner

The Hidden (1987) is one of those late-1980s sci-fi B-movies that works better than it should. Jack Sholder directs from a script by Jim Kouf: ordinary citizens in Los Angeles suddenly start committing violent crimes, stealing Ferraris, and blasting heavy metal. Michael Nouri plays Detective Tom Beck, the LAPD cop assigned to the case, and Kyle MacLachlan, before Twin Peaks, plays Lloyd Gallagher, a strangely detached FBI agent who knows more than he is saying. The cause is an alien parasite that jumps from host to host.

On Beck's wrist is a steel Rolex Submariner, the dive watch Rolex introduced in 1953 and the most recognizable of its kind by the late 1980s. It stays on as he works the case, a steel sports watch on a steel bracelet, the sort of thing a serious detective might wear.
