Michael Caine wears a Rolex Day-Date

Sleuth (1972) is a two-hander adapted by Anthony Shaffer from his own stage play and directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz. Laurence Olivier plays Andrew Wyke, a wealthy crime novelist who invites his wife's lover to his country manor for what turns into a series of escalating mind games. The lover is Milo Tindle, played by Michael Caine: the son of an Italian immigrant and the owner of two hairdressing salons, a self-made man Wyke treats with open class contempt.

The watch is a yellow gold Rolex Day-Date on a President bracelet, and it was Caine's own. According to Watchonista, Caine bought it once he had hit the big time, and wore it on and off screen for more than a decade. Rolex launched the Day-Date in 1956, made it only in gold or platinum, and gave it a dial that spells the day out in full.
