Sonny Vaccaro spends most of Air at a cluttered desk, working the phone, betting Nike's basketball division on an unproven rookie named Michael Jordan. Matt Damon plays him, and on the wrist that holds the phone sits a gold watch: a round case, a pale dial lit to a hard sunburst, an integrated gold bracelet ridged across its width. It reads as a 1970s gold dress watch, period-correct for a man doing business in 1984.
The best guess is a Timex Marlin, and it stays a guess. No costume feature or watch magazine ever named the piece, so the identification lives on the watch forums, where the Marlin is the name that comes up most, alongside a Citizen, an Omega, an Elgin. The one frame we have does not close the case. Light blows the dial out to a white star and takes the markers, the hands, and any maker's text with it, and the integrated bracelet, the watch's most distinctive feature, is the detail that sits slightly uneasy with a classic Marlin. So call it what the evidence allows: a Timex Marlin at low confidence, a one-in-four read on a watch the camera shows plainly and the film never explains.
