Sky Masterson's watch is unusual: a squared gold case with a recessed round black dial on a black leather strap, visible in the promotional stills. BAMF Style noted that alternating shots in the film swap it for a more traditional round-cased gold watch with a white dial, which may have been Brando's personal watch — possibly a Vacheron Constantin that Zsa Zsa Gabor gave him to celebrate his On the Waterfront Oscar.

Brando plays Sky in Joseph L. Mankiewicz's 1955 musical, the high-rolling gambler who bets he can take any woman to dinner in Havana and gets assigned the Salvation Army's Sergeant Sarah Brown. Brando was not a natural singer, and the studio knew it — Mankiewicz cast him for star power, not vocal range, and the result is charming in a way that sounds nothing like Broadway. Jean Simmons plays Sarah, and Frank Sinatra played Nathan Detroit while reportedly fuming that Brando got the lead.
