Mark Strong wears an Omega Speedmaster

Welcome to the Punch is Eran Creevy's London crime thriller, a cop-and-criminal stand-off that wears its debt to Michael Mann's Heat openly. Mark Strong plays Jacob Sternwood, a career armed robber hiding out in Iceland who is pulled back to London when his son is shot during a heist gone wrong. James McAvoy plays Max Lewinsky, the detective who has spent years wanting another shot at him, until the two are forced onto the same side.

On Sternwood's wrist is an Omega, but which Omega is an open question. One watch-spotting site reads it as a Speedmaster with a triple-calendar dial, the day, date and month on small sub-dials beside the chronograph, worn on a steel bracelet. Another logs it as a Seamaster Planet Ocean, Omega's chunky dive watch, which is a very different object. The film never offers a clean look at the dial to break the tie.

The two readings at least agree on the brand, a steel Omega, which suits a criminal who runs his robberies like a business. Where they split is the model, and with no close-up to settle it, the watch stays a maybe rather than a fact.
