The Mint 400 desert race in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is barely visible through the dust. Terry Gilliam's 1998 adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's gonzo journalism classic treats the entire event as a hallucination — Raoul Duke, played by Johnny Depp, can't tell the motorcycles from the mescaline, and the press tent is a haze of dust, booze, and confusion. Mark Harmon appears briefly as a magazine reporter covering the race, one of several cameos scattered through the film alongside Cameron Diaz, Tobey Maguire, and Christina Ricci.
Harmon's watch is visible on his left wrist in the press tent scenes but the dusty, amber-toned lighting makes identification impossible. The brand hasn't been identified.
