Charles Cavendish is the first person you'd suspect in any proper murder mystery, and Luke Evans plays him that way in Kyle Newacheck's Murder Mystery (2019). He's the suave British aristocrat on a billionaire's yacht, impeccably dressed and dripping with inherited wealth, and every line he delivers sounds like it might be his last before the handcuffs come out. The film is a lightweight Adam Sandler-Jennifer Aniston comedy, but Evans commits to the role with the same intensity he brings to his serious work.
The Breitling Superocean Heritage on his wrist is exactly the watch a man like Charles Cavendish would wear on a yacht. Breitling introduced the original Superocean in 1957 as a professional dive watch, and the Heritage line updates the vintage aesthetic with modern movements and materials. It's a maritime watch worn by a man on a boat, which sounds obvious until you consider that most screen villains and suspects get generic luxury watches with no connection to the setting. The Superocean Heritage on Cavendish ties him to the water, to the yacht, to the world where people like him have always spent their summers. It's the watch of a man who doesn't just visit the Mediterranean — he belongs there.
