Luka Sabbat wears an unidentified watch

Father Mother Sister Brother is Jim Jarmusch's 2025 triptych, three quiet stories about grown children and their parents, and the film that took the Golden Lion at Venice. MUBI released it. Luka Sabbat plays Billy in the last of the three, "Sister Brother," in which he and his twin Skye, played by Indya Moore, come back to their parents' Paris apartment after a plane crash and sort through what is left.

One of the things Jarmusch threads through all three segments is a Rolex. In the first, the father, played by Tom Waits, wears one and waves off a daughter's doubts by saying it is a replica, and by the Paris chapter an old Rolex of the father's has passed to his children. No reviewer has pinned down the model, and the joke is partly that the watch may not be the real thing at all.

In this still Billy sits cross-legged on the parquet with Skye's head on his shoulder, a manila envelope of papers open between his hands. On his right wrist is a steel watch on a steel bracelet, turned so the dial faces away. It belongs to the world of that inherited Rolex, but the face never shows, and nothing here settles whether it is the watch the film keeps talking about.
