Lino Ventura wears a Cartier Tank

Claude Lelouch directed, and five career criminals, played by Lino Ventura, Jacques Brel, Charles Denner, Aldo Maccione, and Charles Gérard, find that their old rackets pay less and less and settle on kidnapping celebrities instead. The French title is L'aventure c'est l'aventure. Their first target is Johnny Hallyday, who plays himself and is so pleased with the publicity that he writes out his own ransom cheque.

Ventura plays Lino Massaro, and French watch writers identify the Cartier Tank on his wrist as a yellow gold model that was his own, a watch that turns up across several of his films rather than a piece the production supplied. The Tank dates to 1917, when Louis Cartier designed its case after the overhead lines of a Renault tank on the Western Front.
