Kristin Scott Thomas wears a Cartier Tank Américaine

Catherine Corsini's Partir (2009), released in English as Leaving, follows Suzanne, a doctor's wife played by Kristin Scott Thomas who goes back to work as a physiotherapist after twenty years at home. She falls for Ivan, a Spanish builder working on the house, played by Sergi López, and leaves her husband Samuel, played by Yvan Attal, who answers the affair with financial and legal pressure.

Suzanne wears a gold Cartier Tank Américaine, the elongated, wrist-curved version of the Tank that Cartier introduced in 1989. Louis Cartier designed the first Tank in 1917, its case lines drawn from the shape of a tank seen from above. The watch becomes part of the story late on: broke after leaving Samuel and with her card declined, Suzanne sells the Cartier at a gas station for cash.
