Kellan Lutz wears a Cartier Pasha de Cartier

Syrup is a marketing satire adapted by Aram Rappaport from Max Barry's novel. Amber Heard plays Six, a brand strategist who renamed herself after her own attractiveness rating; Shiloh Fernandez plays Scat, a slacker sitting on a million-dollar idea for an energy drink; and Kellan Lutz plays Sneaky Pete, the smooth corporate rival who lives up to the name. It is a film about packaging, where everyone is selling a version of themselves.

By the watch-spotting accounts, Sneaky Pete wears a gold Cartier Pasha chronograph on a leather strap. The Pasha is one of Cartier's most recognizable shapes: a round case with a screwed-down crown cover tethered to the side by a short chain, a detail almost no other watch carries. The modern Pasha de Cartier is a 1985 design by Gérald Genta, though Cartier likes to trace it to a 1930s commission from the Pasha of Marrakech, who supposedly wanted a watch he could swim in. That origin story is charming and largely unverified.

The film attribution is thin. It rests on a French watch site and a watch-spotting aggregator, with no clear look at the dial on screen, so the gold Pasha is a plausible read rather than a settled one. On a character whose whole pitch is surface, a flashy round Cartier is at least the right kind of watch.
