Early in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), in a flashback the film stamps March 14, 2018, Wade Wilson puts on a suit and sits down for a job interview. The interviewer is Happy Hogan. The job is the Avengers. Happy's office is stocked with Tony Stark's relics: Captain America's shield, a few Iron Man helmets, the suitcase armor from Iron Man 2, and the original arc reactor engraved "proof that Tony Stark has a heart." Happy allows that he began as Mr. Stark's driver and quickly pivoted to head of security, and he calls himself Avengers adjacent. Wade makes his case, that he wants to matter and to show his girl that he matters. Happy lets him down gently. Not everybody is the world-saving type. Aim for the middle, he says, and you'll never miss. He found his place. Wade should find his.
On Happy's wrist is the Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT Auto, reference H32695731, and Hamilton documents the casting itself. The product page for the reference puts it in writing: featured in Deadpool vs Wolverine, worn by Happy Hogan, played by Jon Favreau. It is a 42 millimeter stainless steel dress watch with a black dial, a date window, a sapphire crystal, and a second time zone read off a central 24-hour hand, all driven by the automatic caliber 2893-2. Hamilton listed it near 1,375 dollars before retiring the reference to its past collection.
The GMT complication has one job, and Hamilton sells it plainly: a second time zone, a way to be in two places at once. Happy wears that watch while telling a man to stop reaching for another life and settle into the one he has. Wade does not take the advice. The actor giving it is Jon Favreau, who directed Iron Man and Iron Man 2, the films that started this universe, cast here as the gatekeeper who turns Deadpool away from it.
