Johnny Depp wears a Seiko

John Badham's Nick of Time (1995) plays out in real time, ninety minutes of screen time covering ninety minutes of story. Johnny Depp plays Gene Watson, an accountant who steps off the train at Union Station in Los Angeles and is immediately forced into an assassination plot: his daughter is taken, and he has until 1:30 p.m. to kill the governor of California.

The Seiko on Watson's wrist is the film's engine, because nearly every scene involves a clock, a countdown, or Watson checking the time. A close-up shows a plain gold-cased Seiko quartz with a white dial, Arabic numerals, and a dark leather strap, exactly the watch a mild-mannered accountant would own and the one the camera keeps returning to.
