John Leguizamo wears an unidentified watch

Martin wears an unidentified watch in Chef. John Leguizamo plays Carl Casper's sous chef, the guy who quits his restaurant job to help run a food truck, following his friend from Los Angeles to Miami on pure loyalty and love of cooking. I like that Martin does not have a fancy watch. High-end restaurant people sometimes wear expensive timepieces to signal status. Martin is not that guy. He is the guy who shows up, does the work, and finds joy in the food itself. His watch is probably something practical, maybe beat up from years of kitchen abuse, likely splattered with sauce at some point.

The film is about rediscovering why you started cooking in the first place. Martin never lost that. He is not chasing fame or money. He is happy being part of a two-man operation serving Cuban sandwiches out of a truck window. Whatever watch he wears, it is functional, and that says more about him than any luxury brand would. Carl needs someone who believes in the project unconditionally. Martin is that someone.
