John Cusack plays Mike Enslin, a paperback writer who debunks haunted hotels and has long since talked himself out of believing in anything, until room 1408 of the Dolphin Hotel locks the door behind him. He's a regular, worn-down guy in a Hawaiian shirt, and the wardrobe follows that lead - ordinary, lived-in, nothing that announces money or taste.
So what does a professional skeptic strap to his wrist? A Kahuna. I can say that with some confidence, because the whole Dolphin Hotel outfit went to auction at Propstore as a screen-matched lot - the blue Hawaiian shirt, the green blazer, the charcoal pants with a 'John Cusack - July 06' label still sewn in - and the watch is listed right there as a Kahuna. No model, no reference, and for a watch like this none is needed. Kahuna is a cheap British fashion brand, the kind a costume department reaches for when a character should read as an ordinary guy and not a collector. Which is the whole point of Mike Enslin.
