Every scene John Cazale is in, you know something bad is going to happen to Fredo. He just has that quality. Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather Part II (1974) gives Fredo more room to fail than the first film did, sending him to Las Vegas and Cuba as Michael's representative while making it clear that Michael trusts his older brother with nothing important. Cazale plays Fredo as a man who knows he is the weakest person in every room and resents it deeply enough to betray the one person he should not have betrayed.

The image shows Cazale in a yellow suit jacket with a paisley scarf and sunglasses in his pocket — pure Vegas Fredo — but no watch is visible in the framing. His watch has been described as a steel piece, which is interesting for a Corleone. Fredo wears steel because he is trying to look like he belongs without knowing exactly what belonging looks like.
