- Rolex Day-Date

- Confirmed
Buck Russell drives a car that backfires like a shotgun, cooks pancakes the size of manhole covers, and can barely keep himself together, let alone three kids. John Candy plays him in John Hughes's Uncle Buck (1989) with the physical generosity that made him one of the best comic actors of his generation. The setup is simple: Buck's brother and sister-in-law need an emergency babysitter, and the lovable family screwup is the only one available.
On Buck's wrist is a gold Rolex Day-Date, the most expensive watch in Rolex's standard line and one the company has only ever made in precious metal. It is an odd choice for a broke horse-bettor, and the likely explanation is that the watch was Candy's own: he reportedly wore his personal Day-Date into the role rather than a prop chosen for the character.
