Barry Levinson wrote and directed Jimmy Hollywood (1994), a satire of fame culture set on the streets of Los Angeles. Joe Pesci plays Jimmy Alto, a struggling actor who cannot land a role and reinvents himself as an anonymous vigilante, whose masked alter ego becomes a media sensation while Jimmy himself stays a nobody. Christian Slater plays his memory-impaired sidekick William, and Victoria Abril is his long-suffering girlfriend. The film lost money and is largely forgotten today.
Jimmy's watch has been identified as a two-tone Rolex Datejust, the most recognizable Rolex, with its fluted bezel, cyclops date lens, and Jubilee bracelet. The identification comes from a single watch-spotting site rather than a documented source, and the watch is not clearly visible in the available stills, so it stays unconfirmed.
