Tommy Lee Jones won an Oscar for The Fugitive, and everyone remembers his performance as Deputy U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard. Joe Pantoliano played Cosmo Renfro, Gerard's right-hand man, and did not win anything, which is the nature of being the second lead in a chase movie. Andrew Davis directed the 1993 thriller, with Harrison Ford as Dr. Richard Kimble, wrongly convicted of his wife's murder and on the run after a spectacular bus-train wreck. The Marshals' investigation runs parallel to Kimble's own hunt for the one-armed man, and Renfro is the one doing the unglamorous legwork — running phone taps, coordinating with local police, handling the details that Gerard does not have time for.
In this image, Pantoliano lifts headphones in what appears to be a Chicago PD office, eyes closed in concentration. A watch is visible on his right wrist — dark, possibly with a metal bracelet, though details are hard to make out. It has not been identified. Renfro is the kind of federal agent who wears whatever keeps time reliably and does not need to impress anyone. Gerard gets the showboat lines. Renfro gets the work done.
